I knew Holly and I were kindred spirits after we met the first time and her fiance Jeff said that she describes her wedding style as 'Anthropologie.' I’m about to go light my Volcano candle as I write this! The few months working with Holly and Jeff for their Calamigos Ranch wedding was an absolute delight. I was excited to return to Calamigos Ranch on the vendor side after having my own wedding there in 2014.

Calamigos Ranch is absolutely one of my favorite wedding venues in southern California. It holds a special sentimental value to me but I’ve also had such lovely experiences working there as a wedding planner. Set amongst the hills of Malibu, Calamigos Ranch has that woodsy enchanted vibe that I myself fell in love with when I saw it. I also love that you don’t need a ton of fluff because the venue itself is so beautiful on its own. Don’t get me wrong. I am HERE for the specialty linens and statement florals. But this venue is a great option too if you want to keep it simple for aesthetic or budget reasons.

The weather was perfect. Just what you would expect for a spring Malibu wedding. Holly was stunning in her Carolina Herrera A-line gown with a plunging neckline. Jeff looked dapper dressed in navy with a sweet succulent boutonniere. King protea’s were THE flowers to have the year of this wedding. The English Garden did an amazing job with this king protea bridal bouquet.

Calamigos Ranch Wedding Ceremony

The Calamigos Ranch redwood room is a favorite of mine. This location has a lush garden setting for the ceremony with an arbor that is primed for amazing florals. The indoor reception part of the redwood room can accommodate a larger guest count so it’s perfect for weddings with over 100 guests. There are so many amazing places to take photos throughout the property but especially around the redwood room.

A fun surprise for guests was the mariachi band that played the recessional at the end of the ceremony. Wedding mariachi bands seem to be a favorite of my couples and I am always excited to see this music at weddings.

Calamigos Ranch Redwood Room Wedding

The Calamigos Ranch redwood room is full of light with views of the lush trees on the grounds. Holly and Jeff went for sweet romance with centerpieces of fuchsia and pink with wild greenery. The market lights above and candles below made for a cozy evening wedding reception.
