Los Altos History Museum wedding / Sydney + Gui

I’m long overdue to write about this wedding. It was definitely a special one so, better late than never! I met Sydney and Gui through their photographer, Ana Delores Photography. Sydney and Gui live in northern California so this was going to be my first long distance planning project and I was pumped! They brought me on partway through planning after they had booked their big ticket vendors: venue, catering, and photography. I absolutely loved working with them to dream up this Los Altos History Museum wedding. Plus I always love a groom that embraces his emotions!

Sydney and Gui felt like such a great fit from the beginning. They both have a chill energy but you can also tell they love to have a good time. I think back on this day and remember a lot of tears, and a lot of big smiles. It was one of those weddings where you drive home and just feel really grateful for the work you do and the people you meet along the way.

I loved the white bridesmaid dresses that the group picked out! This is a rare one to see, but whenever brides choose white for their bridesmaids, it always looks so chic!

Cue my favorite moment of the day: The First Touch!

Syndey and Gui wanted to leave the big reveal of seeing each other for the first time to the ceremony but still wanted to have a private moment together before. The couple wrote out notes for each other and stood back to back to read them. As you can see from our sweet groom’s reaction, it was quite an emotional moment! I’m sure I was sniffling and wiping tears somewhere in the background.

Evening Courtyard Wedding Reception

When designing the reception space, we had our color palette of deep plum, lilac, bright white, and black at the forefront of all of our decisions. When working on a design for a wedding I start by gathering inspirational photos from the couple. I show them a few ideas, and we talk about things they like and don’t like at weddings. From there I create a design packet that is reviewed with the couple. Once we all feel good about the direction, the design packet acts as a guide when bringing on the creative team.

We wanted the evening to feel elegant but also fun and approachable. I loved the different shades of purple and dramatic black acrylic accents working together in this design. The velvet linens and acrylic signage worked so well together for this modern chic aesthetic. Dinner was set under glowing market lights and candlelit tables. Let’s not forget Sydney’s must have disco balls. We added disco ball drink stirrers and dainty string lights for a fun disco pop!

The night was full of fun, laughter, and and family favorite late night snack: Poutin! This wedding was months in the making working with an amazing couple. I remember at the end of the night and the next day just feeling so much love.

Best wishes and congratulations to Sydney and Gui!
