2024 Wedding Trends For Your Los Angeles Wedding: An Early Look

We’re already to work with some couples planning their 2024 weddings and we can see how some trends from 2023 are continuing along with some new ones. Below we’ve compiled our list of the 2024 wedding trends we are starting to see and you might consider for your Los Angeles wedding.

For the record: trends come and go. We want you to have whatever wedding you want!

1. Wow Moments

Whether it’s a grand floral display, surprise choreographed dance, artistic installation, or epic food display, we see guests wanting to visually wow their guests with things like statement decor, entertainment, and food. When it comes to florals, we see couples opting for one statement moment, and keeping the rest toned down. Our modern couples want to wow their guests and provide a memorable evening but don’t want the entire wedding to be over the top.

2. Highly curated menu

There’s one common thread with the couples we work with and that is a strong focus on the menu. Our couples are true foodies and always note the menu as a high priority. Whether it’s an all vegan menu or a selection of dishes inspired by the couples’ travels; we see couples going all out to make the food both meaningful and delicious. When it comes to cocktails, it’s all about a custom bar menu. Couples still love signature drinks served with the usual beer and wine. This year we had one couple even create and serve their own concoction!

Don’t forget about a late night snack! From food trucks, to fast food, couples are making sure to add something savory (and a bit greasy) to their late night menu.

3. Mini bouquets

There are a few fun 2024 wedding trends we’ve been seeing when it comes to bouquets. One that we love and our couples love too is mini bouquets. An understated bouquet for the wedding party and bride is becoming more and more popular and will help your floral budget too!

4. Small or no wedding party

Gone are the days of giant wedding parties. For the past year, we see couples opting for a very small wedding party like a maid of honor and best man only, or no wedding party all together. This doesn’t mean you can’t have a fun wedding morning with your selected besties. But we see couples wanting the ceremony to feel more focused on them as a couple.

5. Mini cakes plus lots of dessert

Taking a cue from trend #2, we see couples opting for a variety of desserts, not just wedding cake. Now this isn’t exacty new, but couples are looking for new and unique ways to serve sweets to their guests. Freshly baked cookies, rolled ice cream, hot churros, and a refreshing popsicle for summer weddings are just a few of our favorites. Wedding cake is definitely not going away. But we see a lot of couples going for a smaller cutting cake and loading up on other handheld desserts.

6. Smaller and Shorter Ceremonies

The modern couples we working with are wanting their ceremonies to be short and sweet! Couples are still excited for the ceremony. But they know something long and drawn out can be a slog for their guests. We see couples planning a short ceremony no longer than 20 minutes and in some cases, having a smaller private ceremony before inviting the rest of their guests for cocktail hour.

7. Champagne Tower or other photo moments

This one doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. Couples love this fun photo moment of pouring a champagne tower. We see this continuing as a 2024 wedding trend along with other planned photo moments like posing with a vintage car, and sparkler exits.

8. Themed Dress Code

Something we love to see more and more is when couples will provide a theme or color palette for the dress code. As a guest, we can see how this may be stressful. But really, straightforward direction on attire can make it a lot easier to find something to where than trying to decipher what “formal” means. We love seeing this come together in photos as the group attire can really add to the aesthetic!

9. Audio Guest Book

This has been hugely popular with our couples in the past year and we see this continuing as a fun alternative for guests to leave couples a special message. Extra credit for adding adorable decor to your welcome table!

10. Local + Sustainable where possible

Many of our couples this year have expressed wanting to stick to truly local vendors to support their wedding day as well as find ways to be sustainable. From composting to virtual invitations to limiting waste as much as possible with things like decor; couples are interested in a sustainable wedding day. Read our blog post for ideas of how to have an eco friendly wedding.
